(September 2024 Proposed Mission, Values, and Tagline)
Mission:
Building a loving community of faith shaped by the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
Values:
Love | Belonging | Authenticity | Justice | Joy | Hope
Love
We lead with love—love for God, for one another, for our community, and for our world—and this love is our response to the Great Love at the center of all things. (1 John 4:7-9)
Belonging
We honor the image of God in each person by welcoming people of every race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, age, physical and mental ability, national origin, economic station, and political ideology to full participation in the life and leadership of this Christian community. (Genesis 1)
Authenticity
We embrace humble, authentic connection with God and one another, shedding our masks and acknowledging that vulnerabilities and imperfections are not barriers, but opportunities for genuine growth and deeper relationships, trusting Jesus who taught, “You can't keep your true self hidden.” (Luke 12:2)
Justice
We act with compassion and courage to challenge injustice and dismantle systems of inequality and oppression, trusting the power of Love to transform. Such actions follow the way of Jesus, the Hebrew prophets, and the divine command to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. (Matthew 22:36-40, Micah 6:8, Amos 5:24, Hosea 12:6)
Joy
We cultivate a spirit of joy, wonder, curiosity and delight in God’s love and abundance, in the spirit of Jesus who pointed to children as the gateway to the kindom of God. (Matthew 19:14)
Hope
We live aware, attentive, and alert to an unknown but unfolding future created by God and not ourselves. This future was made known in Jesus who turned sadness into joy and introduced a reign in which the dead are raised, the lost are found, and the displaced are brought home again. (Revelation 21:1-5)
